Pinellas County Housing Authority Presents a Section 3 Workshop for Contractors

The Pinellas County Housing Authority’s Resident Services Department will conduct a Section 3 workshop for contractors on Thursday, April 19, 2012.  All contractors are encouraged to attend.

Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, commonly referred to as Section 3, requires that recipients of U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds, to the greatest extent possible, provide job training, employment, and contract opportunities for low- or very-low income residents in connection with projects and activities in their neighborhoods.

PCHA is committed to compliance with Section 3 requirements.  Section 3 is applicable to all projects and activities funded, in part or in whole, with PCHAs federal funds.  Section 3 benefits low-income and very low-income residents of Pinellas County.  Residents and businesses that qualify as a Section 3 resident or business concern may receive preferences in hiring, training and contracting opportunities when available.

The workshop will begin at 3:00 pm and will be held at the PCHA Central Office located at 11479 Ulmerton Road in Largo.  Among other topics, the workshop will explain the following elements of Section 3:

§  The History of Section 3
