The Head Start Program is a federally funded comprehensive child development program serving low-income children from birth to mandatory school age, along with their families and expectant mothers. In Pinellas County, services are provided through 22 centers that are either directly operated or run in partnership with community organizations — including a location at PCHA’s Rainbow Village Apartments.

Head Start’s goal is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children. Through center-based programs and family-focused services, Head Start helps children thrive while also providing tools and resources to support parents and caregivers.
