Landings at Cross Bayou Named Finalist for AHF Reader’s Choice Award

Developed by Norstar Development USA and Pinellas County Housing Authority, Landings at Cross Bayou has been named as a finalist in Affordable Housing Finance’s Reader’s Choice Award in the Public Housing Redevelopment category.

Landings at Cross Bayou is a 184-unit Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) project, and the first RAD to be closed in the State of Florida.  Completely renovated beginning in 2014, in partnership with Norstar Development USA, Bessolo Design Group, Brooks and Freund, and the help of state and local agencies, the complex was taken down to only the exterior walls.  Originally constructed in 1970, the property was plagued with severe issues that stemmed from an aged and obsolete infrastructure that had reached the end of its useful life. Every unit needed to be gutted and renovated from the inside out. Residents living on the property were provided relocation rental assistance, and were relocated during the renovation process.

Out of 112 candidates, only 34 finalists in nine categories have been selected as part of the 2014-2015 awards. The finalists will be featured in the July/August issue of Affordable Housing Finance and online at www.housingfinance.com.   Magazine and e-newsletter subscribers will select the winners in each category, as well as one overall winner, during online voting between July 13, 2015 and Aug. 14, 2015.
