Planning for Pinellas Heights Senior Apartments – Moving Forward

The Pinellas County Housing Authority plans to break ground on a new 153 unit apartment community for seniors this summer.  Pinellas Heights will be a mixed-finance redevelopment of PCHA’s Greenhouse Shoppes site located in Largo, FL.   Norstar Development USA, LLP is the developer for the project.

Over $17 million construction dollars will be infused into the local economy through this project during 2012 – 2013.  Approximately 200 jobs will be created during the 18 month construction of Pinellas Heights.  Additional jobs will be created for management and maintenance of the development. The total impact on employment is expected to be 395 jobs including direct, indirect, and induced.

To date, two workshops have been held for potential contractors.  A third workshop covering Section 3 certification and compliance will be held on April 19, 2012 at 3:00 pm at PCHA’s central office location.  Click here for information about bids for the construction of Pinellas Heights.  Subcontractor bids are due by 2:00 pm on May 16, 2012.  Certified DBE, MBE, WBE, Disabled Vets, Section 3, Pinellas County and Greater Tampa area Subcontractors and Suppliers are encouraged to participate.  Non-mandatory pre-bid meetings for Subcontractors will be held on May 1, 2012 at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm at:
