Pinellas County Housing Authority and Duke Energy celebrate the installation of new state-of-the-art generator system at Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living
On Thursday, August 15, 2019, at 9:00 a.m., the Pinellas County Housing Authority (PCHA) in collaboration with Duke Energy, held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new generator system at Magnolia Gardens, a senior (60+) assisted living community located at 3800 62nd Avenue North in Pinellas Park, Florida. Jeff Baker, principal of Duke Energy, and Housing Authority officials gave remarks at the event. They praised the partnership that brought the installation to fruition.
In 2018 PCHA contracted with Duke Energy, through its non-regulated services, to design and install a natural gas back-up generator system. The generator system took months to build and just prior to the start of the 2019 hurricane season the generator was installed and up and running. The generator will be owned, operated and maintained by Duke Energy.
This back up power system helps keep mission-critical services, such as the Magnolia Gardens assisted living facility, operational during outages. The generator is a 500KW (Kilowatt) natural gas back up generation system that will provide complete facility backup during outages. It is wind rated for 180 MPH winds.
Located in the heart of Pinellas County, Magnolia Gardens is a beautiful community of 100 individual apartment units for those seniors needing assisted living. Residents of Magnolia Gardens receive three meals a day, snacks, medication administration, and assistance with activities of daily living.
